Eurocopter A-Star AS350 Helicopter
For medical evacuations within 150 to 200 miles of the base, EagleMed uses a specially equipped, climate controlled, AS350 helicopter. This aircraft is powered by a single turbine engine delivering a cruising speed of 138 mph (120 knots) and providing a non-stop range of 350 miles. It is non-pressurized and certified to 20,000 feet. Landing requirements dictate a surface approximately 75 feet square. The crew includes the pilot and two medical crew and has a capacity of one stretcher.
Beechcraft King Air 90
The King Air 90 aircraft has a non-stop range of 1,100 miles and operates on paved airstrips of approximately 3,200 feet. The twin-engine turbo prop maintains a cruising speed of 275 mph (239 knots). The aircraft is pressurized and normally operates at a cruising altitude of 10,000 to 25,000 feet. The King Air is excellent for midrange transfers with multiple passengers and provides better efficiency, a roomier cabin and a greater payload than its jet competitors.
